What is it:
Jelqing is a method used to naturally increase penis size using just your hands. It is considered to be a cost-effective way to achieve growth in comparison to penis enlargement devices.
Although these exercises are considered to be simple and painless, there is no scientific proof to support whether jelqing works or not.
When this technique is applied incorrectly, there is an increased risk for penile injury, pain and irritation. It is important to perform jelqing exercises carefully in a step-by-step manner, and to discontinue this practice if pain or other abnormalities are noted.
Does jelqing work?
Jelqing is based on the increased stimulation of blood circulation to the penis. The objective is to elongate the penis shaft by increasing how much blood it can hold. However, there are no scientific studies done to confirm whether this technique is effective now how quickly results can be achieved.
Step-by-step guide
It is possible to try jelqing in a step-by-step fashion if approved by your doctor. To prevent injury, you should not grasp the shaft too hard nor attempt these exercises with a full erection.. Be sure to use lubricant to reduce any irritation from friction.
This technique can be performed in 3 phases:
1. Warm-up phase
This first step is very important, as it reduces the risk of tissue injury within the base, shaft and glans during the exercises. Ways to warm-up the areas include:
- Take a warm bath
- Apply a hot compress or warm towel on penis
- Apply a hot water bottle on penis
Once you have warmed-up, obtain a half-erection, so that blood can enter the shaft. Ideally, the penis should be erect, but not firm enough for penetration. You can start applying a bit of lubricant before moving on to the next phase, as this will allow for easier movements that are comfortable.
2. Exercise phase
After warming-up and achieving the right level of erection, you can start the exercises phase. These include:
- Hold the base of the penis using your index finger and thumb.
- Tighten your clasp slightly, without causing pain but enough to clench the blood within the shaft.
- Slide your hand slowly toward the gland, without passing the corona.
- Repeat these steps with the other hand, being sure to keep a continuous clasp on the base of the penis.
These steps should be repeated about 20 times, particularly if you are using this technique for the first time.
3. Stretching phase
This phase helps to prevent pain and help with healing within the penis tissue. Using your index finger and thumb, massage the shaft with circular movements for 1 to 2 minutes. Then apply a warm compress on the penis for 2 to 5 minutes to promote optimal blood circulation.
When results appear
Jelqing results may initially be seen after 1 to 2 months of completing these exercises, with some people reporting an increase in size of up to 0.5 cm. However, with prolonged use, some men may notice an increase of up to 2 or 3 cm.
Nonetheless, due to a lack of scientific evidence, it is not possible to confirm whether size increases were a direct result of jelqing or if other treatments may have played a role.
Side effects
Jelqing can pose as a health risk if not performed correctly. Applying too much force or brisk movements can increase the risk for injuries, scarring, pain, local irritation, and in some cases, erectile dysfunction. Therefore, you should speak with your doctor to verify whether jelqing is safe for you.
